Well the escort van has had it, it was that bad the guy in the MOt garage wouldn't even put it through the test. [fair play to him].
Still I did get over two years out of it for my £350.
It's a case of running the car and trailer until I can find a replacement.
Hell I could have done without the expense at the moment, new baby due in 4 weeks. Cheapy vans are like gold dust at the moment.

Dai, why don't you text everyone on your phone asking if they know of any vans for sale.

I did this and came across a expert. N reg with 170 on the clock, but the mechanic said it drives really well for its age.

Granted its not new and needs a few 100 spending on it soon, but you can get that with a 5 year old van.

Also ring round your local garages. Mine was sitting at a garage for 6 months waiting for someone to ask about it (wasn't advertised). Was just a case of speaking to the right person which I did

I'm seriously considering going down the trailer route.
It seems you can buy a lot better car for a couple of grand than you could a van.
I only need to carry `10 containers and my trolley, and the one place that I need ladders I have a place I can leave them.
I already have a box trailer, and a tow bar on my car, so will give it a couple of weeks before I decide.
I thought I may have been taking a chance when I filled the van with diesel last Friday, Just put 12 months tax on it too, Ah well I can get that back.

98R Ford Escort for £100 90,000miles 1 weeks Mot 3 weeks tax. Just got abit of rust underneath but bodywork is average. Its has roof bars and brodex 250 DI system which is for sale for £1500 inc 18 & 31 ft poles and 50m reel. The System is only 2 months old but the work that  i have i am quicker doing traditionally. 

Failed Mot just needs some welding and a new front gaiter, clutch and drive shaft. Been quoted £140 for repair but not got a price for the welding.
