I've been looking at taking the plunge into WFP however I'm a little put off by the amount of wc around.
Does this ever put you guys off?

there will always be more windows to clean than window cleaners can cope with.
I say go for it.

Example -

35,000 new homes being built in the Ashford (Kent) area.

At 12 windows/doors per house, thats an extra 420,000 windows/doors needing cleaning every 4 to 5 weeks.

At £1 per window/door plus any conservatories, that's nearly half a million pounds up for grabs every 4 to 5 weeks.

A year down the line and there could be 35,000 gutters/facias need cleaning.

All very hypothetical I know  but hopefully you get my gist.

Also something to bear in mind is that in the present economic climate there will always be more wc's starting up to make a few £ until the economy picks ups and they can get a proper job again  ;D

I've see 'em come and I've seen 'em go. If you're in it for the long haul you'll not starve!

When I started it was demoralising to hear people say,"There's 3 or 4 wcers down my road",wherever I went. The fact is though I hear as many people say things like,"Our last one let us down and only came round once every 6 months."Plus a lot of the more experienced guys might have full rounds and are not able to take on new customers. In short, get your arse out there cos there still seems to be plenty of work,if you're willing to put the time in to find it.

Get a copy of the Yellow Pages in the area going to window clean, look for the section with window cleaners, and count them.

You could compare with other trades to see if the numbers are below average or above.

I did this when I got back into window cleaner a few years ago, since then the amount of window cleaners has doubled in the Yellow pages, but its had no direct affect to my business.

Good luck, if you do decide to take up the fine art of window cleaning .......  ;D

there are 20 in the whole of my area in the yellow pages, is that good odds guys????

Yes, i was saturated today in fact.

You won't know 'till you try it. Lots on here tell you there is so much work out there you just help yourself, fill yer boots the money is fantastic.

I have plenty of work now, I'm into my fourth year but it doesn't come easily, it takes time. Give it a go you may be lucky and hit those little gold nuggets where they can't  get a cleaner. Be prepared for the rubbish though when you start out. And the frustrating days when you just can't pick up any work, oh and the crap weather.  ;D
