canvassing - set your targets
« on: February 15, 2010, 05:45:57 pm »
Well last week i had four days canvassing, planned out.

I wrote down the areas where i was going to goto on a bit of paper.

I then set a target to how much new work i would like, so i targetted £200. An achievable figure, not too high not too low.

Well, I had to miss a days canvassing  ::) so ended up doing three days [2 of those days were just short days] and got £125 in new work.

I reckon if i didnt have to miss that day, then i would have got somewhere in the region of £180 in total..

So this week, i was planning to do the same, however, the car went in the garage today, and wont be out till tommorow  :o   I will still canvass at leats two days though, and my target is a measly £100 ;D

Point is, get it down on paper, then you can see how your progressing ;)

Fair play. tried going out today, for my battery to die, and my bonnet not open, a hour latter, broken bumper and smashed grill i was on my way home to prepare for tomo. God knows what the customers are going to think when they see my van.

i wouldnt worry about the state of your van, the customers sometimes want to feel they are helping a hard working lad on there way to making a living. when i got a new van i lost a customer and when i took on staff i lost another couple.

some folk are set in there ways and sometimes it works in your favour to appear hard done by. just looked depressed an gratefull for there custom ;D

Regards,

i was very 'flexible' with my hours ;D  was only really driving between detached houses etc... reckon the most i had done that week was a 4 hour day. Lazy? Maybe, but canvassing gets really boring on your own.

The best day i can recall was canvassing from 9 till about half 3. And I picked up over £120 of new work, obviously i had hit on an area no-one else had tried, wish every day could be like that ;D
