whats windows to avoid for wfp
« on: February 06, 2010, 10:56:26 am »
just wondering what windows are a waste of time for wfp.

i know it no good for the really old ledded glass, as its for too weak.

guess its no good for the frames that have that stupid white stuff that comes off?

what about really really bad frames - guess the frames will come up but windows would dry rubbish?

have to agree with Tosh as really old leaded windows can still be cleaned quite easy and look great afterwards,  you just need to give it the kid glove treatment.

even windows with frames that bleed a lot can still be done  they just need more attention to detail.

Only ones I avoid are windows with badly flaking paint as they make a mess of the brush, Oh and I have one set of patio doors on my round that if I cleaned wfp it would make a mess of the patio due to a badly oxidised frame.

Tosh is right - leaded is fine, just take care to be gentle.

today did a big place with original georian slash windows/glass - some frames worse for wear but a really good (gentle) brush and heavy rinse removed all the loose stuff and that came up really well and look a lot newer.

mind you it took 200 ltrs of water to do the place  :o

I have several houses with very old leaded windows and to be honest WFP is the only way to clean them. It would take all day trad. Yes they leak but the customers expect that.

Go very gently and take your time, you will be fine with them. Think of it as specialist cleaning.
