what is the power of your pressure washers,  ie hp or psi  cheers, as am looking at getting one just wanted to know that type of power i will need

13 hp, 4000psi, 15lpm

I'd prob recommend the 13hp, 3600psi, 18lpm pump or the 3000psi, 21lpm pump though as a turbo nozzle will more than make up for the lower pressure.

There are THREE different things quoted.

Power - HP or kW
Flow rate - litres per minute
Pressure - psi or MPa


The power is pretty obvious ... and it tells you indirectly how much water the machine will shift per minute or per hour. You'll be looking for something between 3.5 and 5.5 HP, but might want something more powerful. It depends on the purpose.

Flow rate. This is probably the most important thing. It's how much water the machine will pump per minute.

Pressure. This is probably the most misleading thing. A low power machine can produce a very high pressure but at a low flow rate. That is going to shift the dirt, but S  L  O  W  L  Y. A high power machine can produce a high pressure and a high flow rate. Now that WILL shift the dirt.

So don't be blinded by pressure - which is what people try to sell you. Go for power and flow rate.

More power = more flow rate.

And nozzle size is important.

thts alot and presume it would have to draw water as i cant see mains power keeping up with that

how big is you tank in the van?
working on that a 640L ibc would only last around half hour

When I'm powerwshing I arrive with a full tank and have the tap filling the tank before the machine is even started. EVen so if the tap pressure is low you'll have to take a break every few hours to allow the tank to re-fill.

If you do a lot of pressure washing, a hydrant sand is essential. You might have to get a license for it tho depending on where you are.
