Subcontracting Wage
« on: May 17, 2010, 08:22:51 pm »
Is there a standard percentage that people pay subcontractors??

ie 75% 50%?

I know that obviously alot depends on the price of the work but lets just say around 20-25 an hour
 before the cut...

Or is it better to arrange a day rate, and again what would be a standard/fair sub rate??

If the job is that big I would have thought that the company used would have its own day rates. How do theyy compare to your quote?

Not just one job.... The company you mean the subby or me the person wth contract??

The job is lots of apartment blocks mainly high rise city stuff, im taking over the contract from someone who hasnt been doing a very good job ie, they turn up when they want and take weeks to do jobs that are 1-2 days but the problem is the property management firm want to keep the same prices which is something i need to look at, and the previous company had there own cherry picker to do work where as i would need to hire so thinking of just subbing take a cut and just get paid for paperwork.... I think i can clean one building reach and wash but rest are too big and they dont like it anyway as they get too many complaints and any remedials need doing within a week so dont want that hassle....

If anyone here can abseil your more than welcome to conact me but i am starting with a guy on one of buildings but he might not make the grade or be able to do everything... You need your own equipment, insurance etc though

I would suggest you get them to tender you and see what price comes in. You will know what profit you would make just by arranging the work. Dont forget to get payment terms sorted from the contract to you and from you to the subby.

u say they use to take weeks,  is this becasue the job took weeks or they where lazy  and its the managemnt company that want it dont in 1 - 2 days

some contracts aint worth the hassle,  try and find out how many blocks it is and how often they wan them done,  as u might end up employing 30 lads just to get it done and make no money

NO i know the guy and hes hit and miss, i ve sacked him from some work i have as he is turning up when he wants etc but i am going to get the subby to have a look and see what he thinks, if theres no profit i wont take it on but if there  is i will simples

THanks for replies  helps just to talk it through sometimes so you can get your head straight
