You get periods like this. At present it is right across the country. Do you think anyone in their right mind is going to be thinking about having their carpets cleaned at the minute. You can bet they will be once all the bad weather is out of the way.
Unfortunately a lot of cleaners will not survive. This is why it is so important to make sure you are getting a good return on the work you do. It is no good pricing to give you a week to week income. You need to build up reserves for times like this and also to replace equipment, vehicles etc as they always pack in at the most inoportune moments.

Very true John, fortunately for me, i have quite a few commersial maintenance cleans to see me through the leaner times like this, but i must admitt this is the quietest january i have had in eighteen years of being in business! certainly where domestic work is concerned anyway!

As John says this weather isnt helping, people are still trailing salt and slush into their homes.
One of the reasons i went into contract cleaning 5-6 year ago, was to have regular money
coming in each month.

I have noticed a slight upturn in the housing market local to me, this should help things
get going a little, but a thaw would do for starters.

Jan is usually our best month, i think this year it could be the worst. if not, then a
miracle will be required to pull this month around.

I have to admit it is the worse January for me in 10 years, but the snow has now gone and the phone has been ringing today so at least will see some money coming in soon .Hasn't helped having to pay £700 for van to get through MOT and £ 400 on vacs for machine ,but hey these things are sent to try us  ;D

Some of the customers who were booked in before the blasted white stuff came are holding off for it to totally go but I keep getting a few calls and next week looks good, we'll see!
