Karndean Cleaning Refurbishment needed.
« on: June 13, 2005, 10:18:09 am »
Hi all - I'm struggling to find a local contractor who can come in and sort out our Karndean floor.
It's a couple of years old and we've been very disappointed with the overall wearability of it and the general results from using the Karndean cleaning products..

Can anyone please recommend a floor cleaning specialist in the Hampshire area who could come in and refurb/clean/finish it.

Many thanks.
Pete

is this residential or commercial? if this is residential then i don't think you need a pro to clean your floor. take a look at this pdf file and it gives you all the step by step instructions to clean and maintaine your floor.  http://www.karndean.co.uk/installfiles/PDFS/C&M_UK.pdf

I've always been a bit confused with the Karndean flooring.

The 'Dim Glow Floor Protector' is obviously an emulsion polish which will clearly wear out quite quickly in doorways and high traffic areas. We wouldn't advise anyone to use emulsion polish without the means to maintain it on a regular basis with a rotary machine.

Can Karndean not recommend a contractor (although I have to say I'm not convinced you won't have the same problem again within a few weeks)

Regards

Mike

Thanks for the replys  :)

It's for a domestic installation - I realise this is probably the wrong place to post but I thought I would go straight to the experts ;)

We've tried the Karndean products and system and tbh the results are terrible - we've got three tweenagers and the finish lasts only a couple of weeks at best.

I would really appreciate some professional advice on any alternative products to put a long lasting, hard wearing, preferably gloss like finish on this floor else I fear it's going to become a very expensive underlay for some laminate flooring ! :o

Take a look at some of the smaller floor polishers to maintain it on a monthly basis. Even used with the karndean products you'll get a much more resilient finish.

(3 tweenagers must be terrible - I have 2 twoddlers and they're bad enough  ;D )

Many Thanks Mike - I will definately look into that.. :)

Actually my main reason for posting was to see if there were any specialists in the Surrey/Hants area who do domestic work and could come out and sort it out for us - as you'll know even with Twoddlers they keep you busy all the time and I'd rather pay for a professional to have a look and do a proper job for us if you know what I mean  8)
