Van signage
« on: December 26, 2009, 12:05:21 pm »
I have some cracking photos, picked up over the last three years and am working on the van/s trailer/s signage - this morning and over the next couple of days, so I can take the proof into the signage company as soon as they are back at work.

I am looking to put six photos together in a removable banner, for either side of three trailers, the photos will be in a clump of six and I want our trading name bursting through them, showing the ripped edges and very glossy.

Is there a package available that will allow me to tackle something like this on my own or is it all a little too technical for a novice designer.

I've got a stepson and I have just asked him and I got the vacant 17 year old look!!! - so that is not an avenue to be pursued.

I can get it done professionally and am probably going to have to pay for the privilege of doing so.

I am looking for something stand out but I have done nothing about going down the proper channels. My neighbour is in design I will grab hold of her when I see her and also run it by the signage guys.

Just thought there might be a simple package that is foolproof that I could mess around with. Cheers

The programme they all use is called illustrater, and is expensive.A trial is free but it's hard to use.

My suggestion; use word or publisher to get a flavour of what you want and then ask someone to give it a pro polish.

I have tried various things simpler than this (and currently need to sign write two new vans) but these design people are mostly idiots.I paid someone called rebecca calvert for a logo but it was worse than useless so whatever happens don't use her.

The van signage/banner people should have a stab at this if you tell them what you want.

Sorry can't be of more help but i have been trying to get my own done for ages- they all want top dollar for useless clueless ideas that look diy.

Thanks for that Slump - i've just found the details of the design company who did my business cards and I've dropped them an email.

Cheers

Hiya Rob

Hows it going, bet you had a good holiday, leaving us all in the cold.

Sent you a text in answer to yours, dont carry the phone when not at work, so it took a couple of days to reply.

You,ve seen my vans, they were done y a company up Chesterton opposite the Lymedale Business Estate, they included photo,s & the price was realy good. If you want the no send me a txt & i,ll find it out for you.

I actually passed your unit the other day on the way to walking in & around Dovedale, should have took phone, could have called you & perhaps met up. Took different route through Cheadle, rather than Stoke as normal.

All the best

Gaz.

Got that message - didn't bother replying because I thought you would have hung it up again till the New year!!

I have just booked a house clean in at Birkenhead and bizarrely I have had two enquiries for window cleaning, one commercial & one residential.

I have emailed my business card man as far as the signage, I will wait to see what he comes back with. I am converting the Transit into a camper for Steve so I am up there at the moment but it is so cold I am only do a couple of hours here and there.

When are you back at work?

Back to work mon if dont go in sat, got family round from party last night so not gone in today.

Good to hear your vans & equip are coming together, should be a good year for you, i,ll try to help or get new work for us both as & when, but, just done calculations on work to complete by end of march & we are going to struggle. Might have to expand again, but, quite tidy at minute & running smooth other than weather.

Speak to you in the New Year

All the Best
