cash, cheque whatever its the same price.

your not vat registered so it doesn;t matter.

People only do this so they can charge less the VAT and pocket the cash - which seems pointless if your not VAT regged.

However always claim any money the IR are commissioned based and will track WC's and all other cash type business's to investigate their monetary dealings.. not worth the hassle.

I know a lady that works for customs and excise and she is always asking trades about cash deals, less tax etc.. people will happily talk to her not knowing who she is or who she works for..  :

I have been asked a couple of times "how much for cash" I just restate the quote and then add I am not VAT registered.

i thought the days were long gone when customers thought they could get anything off for cash - stick by your price!

ive started to decline cheques under £20 aswell, i tell the customers its due to bank charges etc.

I think it's always best to give a higher price(than normal) for the job when people are paying by cheque.

That way if you do get customers wanting to pay by cash to make it cheaper they will always feel better for it.

Everybody wins.

Eh? why do the job cheaper? Pretty obvous why you want cash, to fiddle your tax.
Same price either way for me I just tell them cash is nicer it's up to them how they want to pay.

The last time someone asked me for a lower price for cash, I just told him that the price would be the same because it all goes through the books anyway as I run an honest business.  This was one of my largest domestic customers too.  Funnily enough, he gave me a tip at the end

not just for avoiding vat, its for avoiding all tax, if they give you cheque theres a paper trail if its cash it goes in your pocket no one needs to know

its up to you how you do business but i wouldnt charge less for cash even if i did avoid the tax...

you still pay enough out in costs to need the full amount!!

When you give a price of £100, and they say how much for cash, you reply "£100" i do lol
