Water ring marks
« on: November 03, 2009, 06:04:53 pm »
Well I have now taken hold of my CC kit and starting to practise.Done my land, stairs and front bedroom today and quite pleased with the results.I definately need hose extentions as I never realised what a pain in the arse carrying an extraction machine upstairs is >:(

Doing my mates carpet tomorrow,I haven't seen it yet but he tells me there was a water spillage a few months ago and there are "ring marks"showing. Will these extract out or will they need a treatment first.

Thanks

Hi Wayne,

Good luck with the cleaning! If the carpets are hessian backed, your stains will be jute browning and will need an acidic agent to "loosen" the cellulosic browning before rinse/extracting. Try something like Prochems Browning Prescription. It is always good to have something like this on the van, as you will come across this quite often.

Regards

The Powermax is a great bit of kit for a start up machine, along with the right solutions and technique you will get the results required.

Hi Mark, when you say technique do you mean use of the wand?.Although I have done 2 courses I only held a wand for about 5 minutes on them both.Having started using the wand today I found it difficult to get the technique right

This might sound daft but is there a correct technique or is it what the individual finds what suits them best.

When i say technique, i mean the cleaning process, choosing the correct method and solution for each job, dwell time, agitation, wand technique, If you fancy an half hour drive over the M62 you are welcome to spend the day with me sometime, 07723 756402,
Mark

Wayne,

I dont know Mark personaly but take him up on his kind offer, you will learn so much being around someone with experiance for a day. You will be surprised how what you have learnt on courses translates into real world cleaning practices.

The steempro as Mark said is a good machine and will give very good results, defo a good idea to get hose extensions.
My set up when i used a porti was the steempro with in line heater, sebo vac, sebo duo for agitation and an air mover. I had a lot of happy customers getting good results. Consider a cheap slow speed rotary with brush for really bad carpets as it will loosen more dirt than a sebo duo, they come up often on ebay. I cleaned most carpets with multi pro/traffic lane cleaner and rinsed with fabric fibre. On wool i used pre spray gold unless they were salvage jobs.
