whats your water pressure? If you dont have enough to push the water thru the permeable mebrane, most will go as waste!

also ensure you dont have a ex frozen system which has a crack in it..

50 psi              no cracks all ways inside never been near frost, thanks for reply

Im sure the merlin needs about 80psi to work properly, i'll check the manual.

page 7, its shows the graph of temperature to pressure its what near 5 degrees in the garage, shed, van? So on the graph thats really poor, you need about 80 psi. You may need a booster pump in cold temps.

RO man is a likely option.

you may need to change your sediment filter - product slows down alot when it needs changing

you dont need a pump -

what you do is --

 you get more product if you downsize the tubing on the wast pipe ( black ) I run it into some 5-6mm tubing of about 5 mtrs . Thats your DIY flow restricter

you double your output this way .
water presure I just use straight from the tap .

mine used to work well at 70 psi but the waste must have been something stupid like 4 to 1

Try this on your waste pipe , it put more back pressure giving you more pure product - only costs a few quid .

Ive had my merlin set up like this about 3 years now and still work great .

which one is the sediment filter , mines been running 50/50 for six months but now its 75/25 in favour of waste . how do you know if its not the resin and when its time to change the resin , water pressure about 70 tds about 120 any info cheers

your top one is the sediment filter - you will notice a drop in flow when you need to change , just like you have now .


resin change - TOP tip i found with the merlin is not to run it through a DI at the same time when you have the merlin on .
As the merlins pumps out fast i was finding i was eating up resin and changing/ renewing every month as it dosnt get time to do it's thing .

What I now do is run the merlin straight into a 1000 IBC tank - then pump it into the van tank , then I let the van pump the water through the DI and then through the hose and out the brush.
I have been doing it this way now for 7 months and still on the same resin !!!  the slower flow from the van pump gives the water more time to pure itself .

I got  the reducer from a plumbing store

I found it out by chance as i used to run a 300 gallen Ro from ro -man and had the wast plumbed in to the sink waste. When i got the merlin i just plumbed it in to that .
When i moved i set it up with just the black pipe and started to get crap flow like 4-1 waste, then moved the merlin away from the drain so put the green pipe back so i could reach the drain - WOW back to how it was .

Like i say dont put a DI on the merlin - when Dan at DSB and i had our two vans filling up from mine I was changing resin weekly - stick the DI after the van pump and save a packet  like pic below.

my water pressure was 70psi tds going in 425, My setup was water first goes through to 10" carbon filters then through the merlin then through a 11ltr di vessell into my 1000ltr ibc tanks. i had this setup for 14 months and changed the 10" filters twice and the resin once, Always had ooo tds.
