7 p price rise
« on: September 29, 2009, 09:08:39 pm »
Gordon Brown has pledge to increase the minimum wage for the next 5 consecutive years. It's going up on Thursday by........7pence ;D ;D ;D

That means it's time to increase at least 3 of your poorest paid jobs by a £1 each to keep up with the dole brigade window cleaners or face stiff competition. ;D

Anybody feel now is the time or in the New Year to at least increase the prices of your lowest priced work to guage a feel for the economy and your customers?

I find it worrying that price does not go up as the inflation rate (must at least be 3 or more percent). So often I read on this forum that some one has kept there prices for 3 or more years and yet his expenses have gone up by inflation and fuel goes up at more than inflation. Every year we are working for less. Its time to wake up and become businessmen. Every design made emotionally is business is a wrong one. That’s should be kept for charity, family and your kid.

I started in Oct 06 and have not as yet put my prices up at all...truth is I think the euro-economic market will not bear it at present...plus I am poo scared to do it.

I have held off for last year with the economics but I do think its a must, I will begin producing a list of the custies that haven't had a price rise for a while started from the longest and review there prices.

I am thinking feb, march, but I don't think pre x-mas is the time for it as its our slow season. Just before summer is the best time I think.

I think that most of your genuine customers will expect the prices to go up a bit from time to time and will be fine with it so long as you're offering a decent service with nothing to complain about :)

Im in the process of making a list of all the jobs on my round that are underpriced and plan on bumping them up a bit, but not sure when the saftest time of the year would be to do it esp with christmas coming up.

Im also still a bit weary of how much I can get away with upping the price before risking being dropped.

I don't put them up more than 50p. If I think it needed to be put up 50% I would be seriously reviewing the way I price jobs.

Sounds similar to mine, i bought alot of work when i fist started some was great some not so much but just got faster and that helped but no its time to rise them all, so i will be feb time .... Some will be doubling or getting dropped!!

Im canvassing in alot of good priced stuff now so that i dont have to depend so much on the crap they just get done when i catch up or i will put prices and sell what i cant do :)
