do you find that some custys, no matter how smart you are dressed and good ur van is,  that they treat you like you are doley scum, working on the side and that you should be greateful for doing there windows,  had one to day  who moan that her windows where dirty so did them again and started moaning because i would not scrape them dry( am on wfp now),   her attitude was that i should be greatful,  and it got me thinking how many custy thing we are just fly by nite cowboys and not actually business men,  and that if we loss there £6 job we will end it all and that they are keeping us going

That's the problem with the cleaning game in general. People see cleanings as working class scum who can't do anything better but sometimes you get people on your books that are really greatfull of what you do for them and it makes it worthwhile

I also see it as the type of customer you are going after..

I treat people how i wish to be treated myself, and i expect that in return.

The ones that treat you crud, move on.. get a better customer and explain why you will not be doing them.

Although some of the upper classes type that are oh so posh tend to be a bit belittling.. i just charge more to make up for it then :P

Yep had that on a phone call about an hour ago, I hate being talked down too, so stayed calm and did my best, in the end I said I would have to stop cleaning there windows, I could hear the guy choking on the words I said. I don't not like people being rude to me nor will I put up with it.

They have a choice who you use, as do we  ;D and there are alot more houses than the are window cleaners (not that you would believe that in this area I was in today.. ::)

There's a lot of that type of view round my area I think, mainly because it's an old fashioned working class mining town and people can be a bit "behind the times."

On one of my new streets I was told by a new custy that the last good window cleaner they had stopped when he "got himself a full time job"  ::)
But you can help to make a change in views by how you operate , I told him I was a full time fully insured professional window cleaning business owner and gave him my card with details on and had company workwear on.
Maybe he went back indoors with a better idea of window cleaning in general.

I rarely would cancel a customers service on one problem.
The one today tbh is way under priced and as the next door moved made the job a real pain and the next door do not want a window cleaner (trust me they have been asked)
I was going to put this customers price up, but I now have a l space for 1 job or 2 small and all will be better priced than this, and I feel for anyone that takes on this customer.

Had it before where a customer went round with a white tissue after the clean and wiped in the gap and the seal only to show me a little brown mark on the tissue, I held back from laughing, and said I would give her the clean free of charge for this clean if she took out the white glove clean so gave her a price for white glove window cleaning for next time, she told me shes had loads of window cleaners wonder why. She canceled herself  the best thing is a wc that I know laughed and told me he had taken this customer off me, I smiled and chucked to myself as he walked of pleased with him self, 2 months later he was moaning to me about her lol have to say I did laugh at him  ;D

Just do what i do, when i finish the windows, I blacken my face with a lump of coal, knock on the door, fall to my knees, then hold your flat cap in your hands as if wringing it out and put the St.Bernard dog eyes on! 8)

Can’t believe what you put up with windowwashers, customers like that get dropped there & then as rudely as they have just been.

As for giving people like that a free clean, no chance.  ::)

if she had taken the white glove clean I would have no problem giving a free clean, White glove is going to take me a long time and charged by the hour.
She paid me, she wanted Caviar and was paying for cods row  ;)
I run a business Ewan, I have to keep my emotions in check or I would have lost a whole lot of customers by now, being clever I bite my lips well at least till they really annoy me
