That is claimed by a few including the Alltec I own! Although I am very impressed with my machine, I find it hard to believe that it has the same powerl than a TM!

It's a vague claim to make in any case, I doubt very much any porty could be anywhere as near as powerful than a Titan... But maybe a top end porty could be on par with a entry level TM, I don't know TBH.

if its got a 60 gallon tank and doesn't use electric then sounds good to me. power is one thing, self sufficiency is another. i'm pretty sure you could make a porti as powerfull as a truckmount but for me its all about speed coupled with quality of work. i get there, i run the pipes out and i clean, if theres no electric, i don't sebo scrub, i just up the psi, if theres no water (hot or cold) what do i care, ive got 60 gall of 240f at my finger tips. there nothing wrong with a good porty, in the right hands it'll do an amazing job, i just like the freedom and speed of a trucky. just my opinion,

I do wish retailers wouldn't make claims that seriously dent a good reputation.

If they said look, you can do a perfectly reasonable job and make a v. good living with this portable then they would be quite right, but why go and say something which just ain't true.

Derek

Do you or have you ever owned a portable?

When I went to Ashby's they said it's all you need to make £40k a year and they were underplaying the potential of the business.

I actually think it's better to stick with the portable for a year or two, see if you like/survive the business and then think about getting a TM when you have the cash.

Having a portable makes you use your noggin to do stuff rather than relying on the power of the TM.

You will find you can increase productivity with various carpet cleaning paraphernalia you pick up along the way.
