Best cloths
« on: September 01, 2009, 08:22:00 am »
Hi everybody,

I'm coming back into w/cleaning after 20 years and I was wondering what are the best cloths to use (not necessarily the cheapest).  I used to use old muslin squares from when my kids were babies but now I've got to start from scratch and buy everything again, so I'ld appreciate e few ideas.

Thanks.

Forget scrims, microfibre is where it's at.

Try the ones from Gardiners, they are the best (same as the windowcleaningwarehouse ones)

I still use cloths quite a lot, of course especially when doing insides.

The one thing to remember when washing microfibre cloths, NEVER add softener when putting in the wash, it ruins the water absorbency.  I've heard of some people rinsing out after the end of the day and then re-using, but sticking the lot through a hot machine wash cleans out detergent residue better.  I use detailing drying towels left over from my car detailing business, but these are a bit impractically expensive for window cleaning (£10) each, but are very big so can be cut down and dry without leaving any marks - http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/microfibre-cloths/sonus-ultimate-detailing-towels-pkg/2/prod_185.html
