Big companies have a lot to learn
« on: May 15, 2005, 10:54:15 pm »
I have been working for one of the biggest cleaning companies in the world as a area supervisor for the last 6 weeks. I am still running my company but there training package saves me a load of money. But to be honest am disgusted with there total lack of respect for there clients the lack of equipment and the total disregard for there staff. I am now at the opinion that a company that turnsover with a profit of £101million could not run a p*&^ up in a brewery. So i have handed in my notice and would prefer to show them i may be a small company but i respect my clients staff and can do the job properly

hi there,

paul, at the same time the clients that these larger cleaning companies are working for, are also  larger clients, these are the clients that are continually ratcheting the price they are prepared to pay down as low as they can go.

at some point in the supply chain, there is a tight spot, and i  think you  have found it in this case.  irrespoective of size people run a business to make a profit, the weaknesses are more pronounce in larger business because of that SIZE element.

also i have seen cases where the client is supposedly paying for X number of cleaners and infact there is Y on site.  the reason being the contract pricing wont cope with the original number quoted.

both client and supplier are playing a game, of backgammon. and usually it runs smoothly, but every now and then the sysyem does break down.

regards

martin

Hi Paul and Martin!

I agree with you Martin, and that is one of my biggest fears of becoming a 'big' company.....losing perspective. There's no chance of that (yet), my business is still very small. ;D

Paul, well done you for sticking up for what you believe in......I believe there should be more people like you (and, I hope, me) in business in this world.  ;)

anyone with facebook can add me at this link ...  jan 'minkeedj' kindon  .... if you can be bothered lol
