Ink on leather - walk me through it
« on: August 18, 2009, 05:42:55 pm »
Solid Brown colour. leather pigmented.  Black biro ink about size of two 50p pieces on seat close to arm.  Customer has tried the usual.

Ive the LTT kit and about to re read the manual as its the first leather job Im going to attempt since the course over a year ago.

Concerns are getting the colour matched, getting the colour onto the leather and applying the finish.

So anyone for a step by step please.

thanks
Mark

Send a swatch to Furniture clinic, they send back a perfect match all for about £20. Saves a lot of faffing.

Why not have a chat with Judy or Andy at LTT - seeing as you been on their course.

Please give us a ring, we are here to help beyond the course as all of our technicians will testify.  We can talk you through the whole process rather than trying to deal with it like this.

You may not have to recolour as the ink removal process may work in the first instance.  The process needs to be worked through before you even think of recolouring because if excess ink is not removed first it will simply come back through the new pigment.

For a quick overview the ink removal process is:

Ink Stick
Alcohol Cleaner
Remover 1
Remover 3
Recolour/Finish

If you need a colour mixed we can do it for you for about £15.00 but I think you should have all the things you require in your kit.

Hope this helps
Cheers
