First ever call back
« on: July 30, 2009, 12:03:29 pm »
In nearly 3 years since starting got my first callback  >:(
The problem is the bedroom which was different carpet, off-white patterned synthetic, room was empty but you could see where the bed had been due to the very heavy traffic lanes either side, a bit excessive for a bedroom actually.
Anyway tried some m/splitters with not much success, tried my favoured high ph cleaner U/renovate with an acidic rinse and although it took 3 or 4 tries it did the job.
Got a call yesterday that the 2 traffic lane areas have gone yellow, I'm guessing its browning as I used so much prespray in them areas and probably not rinsed well enough, would I be right?
What would be best to try, acidic rinse? coffee stain remover? Oxibrite?

Going to see it tomorrow, luckily its only 5 mins away.

Browning Prescription should help you out if it's a browning problem.

mix at 1:10, brush in well and leave a 10 min dwell.  Give it a good rinse through with plain water, dry it off with an air mover and see how it looks.  If it still looks a little yellowy, retreat with a modest amount of BP at 1:4 (or even a bit stronger) and just work into pile and leave it.

Looks like you tried too hard to please the customer in the first place.

Over trying often gets us into trouble.

I heard on a training course if it does not work after two attempts its not going to work.

i remember shaun telling me to be careful with UR on wool carpets, it can make them turn yellow, i think thats your prob.
best wait for shaun to come on, if he knows it turns wool carpets yellow, he should know how to turn them back, if they can be.

You called?

Jim has the answer but after that it's sodium met but this last stage may be limited on man made, yellowing though on man made? could be a wear and tear of the fibres.

Cheers guys, had a look and I have got some browning prescription, didn't think I did.
Was gonna try Prochems coffee stain remover as it says can be used to treat browning.

I'm having doubts with the potency and misguiding ph statements on Craftex chems. The brown syrup like degreaser is supposedly ok to use on all carpets and upholstery because of its neutral pH, my findings are that it would take the skin off an elephant.
It’s all nuclear stuff is Craftex.

Just an update, browning prescription at 1-1 mix worked on impact just as I'm telling the customer I'll have to leave it for 10-15 minutes, rinsed with spotter machine, 10 minute job and one very happy customer that I took the time to go back and rectify.
Thanks again for the replies.
