backpacks and pump boxes do not use varistrams , so what do they use for their flow settings and can you get and fit one to a van system instead of a varistream.

My Omnipole Backpack is controlled electronically.  I press a button once for the first speed and again for the second etc.  Each setting is sending a different voltage to the motor.  I believe the pump is around 40psi so the electonics probably wouldn't be man enough for 100 pi pumps.

Another make of backpack uses a heavy duty variable reostat but again would probably burn out on a larger pump.

It would be ideal if there was a heavy duty variable 12volt power controller available.  anyone know of one?
