quick conneters
« on: June 17, 2008, 03:50:52 pm »
does anyone else have the problems i seem to have with the brass quick release connectors
i run a thermall blue wave truckmount, but the male connectors seem to wear out really quickly, the dont seem to connect to the female properly thus the flow of the water is'nt as it should be, its like the nipple bit wears on them,
does anyone use the stainless steel ones
if so where is the best place to get them
Colin
never had this problem using on portables!

Colin,
Do you use a lubricating spray on them every so often?

Maybe truckmounters need to take more care of their nipples  ::)

colin, the usa is the place to buy them, greenie sells them for around 12 dollars for the males and 33 dollars for the female so that's £6 and £16. like you he suggests that it's the male that gives the most problems in brass. the thing to do is work out with postage, what is the best amount to order,

Chris
Us truckmounters keep trying to piece them ;) but even the brass ones are tough.
Colin,
Try the s/s  ones as an alternative.  Found they last somewhat longer

Also check out "xacttools" in the States.  You can pick these guys up through Ebay as well.  Keen prices & shipping is fast. I normally get them within 7 days

elliot, be careful re pricing, i know that greenie only uses the best that he can get, might last longer and be better value for money in the long run?

I have been using TMs for nearly 15 years.  I have NEVER had so many go wrong although i did have an accident a week ago because one failed.  It must be a bad batch.  I would expect to get at least 2 years from a brass fitting.

I have the same problem with my porty, the male one wears out really quickly.  No amount of lube will stop it because its the force of the ball bearings against the brass that does it.  I dont see why the male isn't made of steel.

Make sure the male isn't dragging along the ground when coiling your hoses as this wears them very quick.

I'm glad My EMV has flat faced connectors as standard. I had nothing but trouble on all my other machines & hoses. putting towels underneath connectors that last 4-6 months got unbearable!
One year old and no leaks!

Hi Colin

I have recently had the same problem.
What I have bought from AR supply in the states are the stainless steel tipped quick connecters.
For 10 it worked out £95, thats ten male & ten female for £95 that was with the postage and customs charges!!
E-mail me if you like for the details.
