the sl-x has been a very big succsess, it is a shame it has been sold in  the usa and other countries so soon at such  an early stage, so there product is distrabuted, shared, between all the countries, i could be wong but that is my view,

I got the facelift fusion, great pole, really looks the part too. Quite reasonable price at just over £300 quid plus VAT and the sections are smaller than the old facelifts. I havnt used the slx myself  so i cant compare but i wouldnt hesitate to recommend the fusion to anyone looking for a premium pole

ive got a slx 30 and used it a fare bit, one thing would be nice is clamps like on the facelift on a slx, the clamps are ok and easy to use i just feel it would be far better with clamps like facelift or xtel i preffer facelift clamps personaly.

14 votes and 204 views so what pole your all using ?
ive never used a slx so i aint going to comment .
facelift on the other hand as been a top pole 4 the last 3 years and now i need to replace (my facelift was bought 2nd hand and the guy had this for 18 months )
the slx seems like the obvious choice .
but why ?
ive held the fusion and think its a great pole but it aint tried and tested .
facelift clamps are the biz , slx dont know as i aint used but told like bike saddle clamps .
unsure which way to go in my choice .
because ive held the fusion fully extended in 1 hand and at a angle eqvivalent 2 being over a conny roof im unsure which way to go .
slx as had good write ups but have the slx users used the facelift fusion and have the fusion users given the slx a whirll ?

I have a mk1 SL-X and a 44ft c/f Facelift...

I used the Facelift for:

93 weeks and 1520 jobs (just starting out)....in that time I have had to replace a couple of clamp sections due to snapping...my fault as I extened the sections too far and this placed too much pressure on the clamp section thus snapping it(the red over extention tape had worn off).

But since getting the SL-X I now use it as my day to day pole, the Facelift is now used about 2 times a week for the odd very high windows...I treat it with kid gloves now...as it is expensive to replace!.

The SL-X is a fantastic pole and mine used daily and with gusto...it is a money maker without doubt...As Alex has already stated if you want bullet proof...go for Aluminium..if you want strong and light then carbon fibre is for you.

My SL-X has been used hard and has made our business able to work harder and allows me to work longer each day thus allowing me to have more time off...which I take full advantage of...

I do not think it matters which carbon pole you go for...if you work it hard and it makes you money..treat it like a replacable tool....

Carbon fibre was never really intended for the abuse that we give it...I think that the lenght of time our poles work and the constant wear they get is testiment to the pole manufactures abilty to design them so well.

I personally think that if a pole can earn me my annual target projection...then it has earnt it's keep. I am able to work out how much each job has cost to buy each pole and how much money each has earnt in it time and the SL-X is a sure fire winner.

I'll have ordered a new SL-X35 and when it arrives then the old one will get cut down to be a stubby pole for those akward windows with little room for manoevor.

Hope this helps, I know you asked for Facelift Fusion but I only have the first type but thought it might help

My only tip with carbon fibre is that they should be washed out thoroughly and regulary as I believe that grit/dirt that is accumalated within the pole sections during the day does play its part in the carbon wearing...i.e each time the pole is extended and dropped down.  I have no evidence to prove this but my experiance in using these poles does lead me to this conclusion.

Cheers
Dave

Is the Fusion the same length, same rigidity, same material as the SLX? and more importantly the same price? If it's not, then the idea of head to head isn't such a good one.

I wanted a Facelift carbon once untill I checked the price! Then along came the SLX - stiffer, lighter, longer and shorter sections and far far cheaper. Couldn't see any point in going for the Facelift to be honest.

the two poles ive chose are the ones im looking at buying but cant make my mind up so with some useful help from members it minght help me decide which 1 to go for so its head to head between these 2 poles for me .
price wise these poles are around the same , the rigirty of the poles im unsure about thats what im trying to find out which 1 if any is better .
i can only go on write ups what ive read on here about the slx as ive never seen 1 the write ups have been good towards this pole but there seemed to be a issue with the clamps , theres now a new design clamp on the slx in what way are they diffrent to the first batch .
facelift clamps are in my opinion 1 of the best about and the fusion pole even though i liked it its not really been  field tested as long as the slx .

pingu thanks for the good write up .

SLX will be into it's third edition soon. The clamps have always been different in that they work sideways which allows them to be much narrower which enables shorter collapsed lengths. Clamps have always been fine - just different. The new plastic clamps I believe may clamp directly against the pole shaft so that the plastic of the clamp is against the shaft rather than carbon to carbon. The only drawback with the slx has been the wear (fairly rapid in my opinion) but something every pole suffers from.
Maybe the latest will last the longest. My first SLX I used for a year then sold on. My costs for that pole were about £300 for every single job below 30' for that year.
The top sections would wear the quickest and so could be replaced anyway if needed.
Superb pole and good value for the money
