ro or just DI

Hi, my first post on here, great forum by the way.
Just got my TDS meter and have a reading of 57.
Will I be ok with just a DI and no RO unit. If so how much resin do you think I'll use with a reading of 57ppm.
Thanks for the help.

thanks for the quick reply, glad I checked the water, was just going to buy a full system with RO, will save a bit of cash now.
Any idea's roughly how much resin I'm likely to go through, and how often I'll be changing it any other advice for a system with just DI.
Cheers again

hi again, just wondering if any one can give me an idea of how much water i'll be able to produce before needing to change the resin. Also anyone any advice on what size DI unit i need a 4.6l or 11l? My TDS reading is 57ppm.
cheers in advance.

are you on a meter?
If you are, you prob be best going with just DI.
If you not, a RO and DI will be the better option in the long run as you will save money on your resin costs.
But if your on a tight budget then go DI straight away.

cheers, yes i'm on a water meter, but if going for the ro route was going to set it up at my step dads house. when I've been looking the DI setup doesn't seem that much cheaper than the ro route anyway. so i am undecided. If the resin is going to cost me a fortune and i'm going to be changing it all the time then i'd plump for the ro route, but i have no idea how much resin i'd be going through with a ppm of 57.

Your resin will last for ages at 57ppm mate .. I started with DI only but my TDS here around 340! I would have 2 DI vessels in line if i were you.
I was only part time when i started and the resin used to last about 4 or 5 weeks.
You can just fill up with tap water (at yours or your step dads place) and have your DI vessels in your van..

thanks for that, what size DI would you recommend, will prob start with one but then have 2 vessels once i'm up and running.
am i correct in thinking the set up in my van with just DI will be as follows
Tank - Pipe - Pump - Pipe - DI vessel - Hose - Pole
thanks again

Yes mate thats it
I would go for 2 larger DI vessels (less resin changing) the 11 ltr ones.
Hope that helps a bit mate
