Connectors popping off in the heat?
« on: July 02, 2009, 08:58:13 pm »
I find that connectors pop off and pipes work loose more frequently in the warm weather. Do you?
It's a game of three halves!

Yes, hose can become more supple. The worst affected is black hose.

Yes who sold me that?  ;D

Does tend to get a bit too flexible. I've had to go back to the clear hose from microbore to valve 'cos the black stuff won't take the pressure this weather.

 :D - who me?

Most people prefer black hose but I find clear performs better in more circumstances.

Yep Malc I make you right, had two embarrasing hose blowing off incidents on Wednesday.
Whilst talking to customers turned tap on and had instant mouthfulls of warm water hit me in face as the pipe shot off of the connector. :-[

Solved by switching to my Unger Pole with the thicker, heavier mesh type hosing.

All my connections are 1-2mm too big and heat shrunk on so no chance of popping off when hot.
