CFR hand tool twisting off
« on: July 04, 2009, 08:29:42 pm »
My 3" CFR hand tool smartly detached from the main vacuum hose today - the first time I've used it.  In fact if I hadn't kept tightening it against the thread of the flexible hide-hose it would, IMO, have possibly detached several times.  Do I have a faulty item or must I be careful not to twist it too much ?

mine twists off now and again just tighten as hard as you can you soon get the knack of not twisting the tool as you clean i have put some duck tape around the connection to give it bit more hold

Thanks Richard, this is how I carried on (but not with any tape attached).  But it's good to know it's not just mine that's doing it.  It did a good, reasonably dry job, though.

Richard

Without looking into this in any detail, all I can say is that I'm working with 100 - 130 psi.  Before buying the CFR hand-tool I had an external-jet upholstery tool and this did tend to thrash the fabric ahead of the vacuum stroke.  Sometimes this has benefits, but the misting action of the enclosed jet definitely controls the rinsing moisture.  I'm impressed with the CFR-tool principle, although I still use enclosed, external-jets for carpets.

i have used my cfr tool right up to 300 psi still great drying times. i also use the wonder wand for carpets sim principle also unbelivable drying times even when using 500 psi.
