Kitchen chair seats
« on: June 15, 2009, 09:32:15 pm »
Hi,
been offered a job to clean the upholstered seats of some kitchen chairs. I've not seen them yet so don't know what fabric content is.  I am booked on a Prochem upholstery course in July but i wonder whether you think this is something i could tackle now or whether i should wait till i've done the course. Also wondered what price i should quote.

Thanks.
Ben.

Ben if there are enough chairs to clean they i am sure someone would show you what to do at a price. That way you get the work and learn something.Obviously going on the course will help in the future but this opportunity is now so be inventive and create a win win situation.Regards Alan(swindon)

If they are kitchen chairs they are probably not worth a mint but more likely to be heavily stained. Prespray with the likes of a micro splitter or Fabric Restorer , agitate & rinse extract with water or an acidic rinse & towel.  Just do it
There may be some stains which haven't shifted, but if you are untrained best to leave those

I have found that most kitchen chairs are very easily cleaned, the fabric used will likely be a material that easily cleaned , even perhaps just wipe able., now dining chairs are a different matter.

I cleaned 80 chairs in a restaraunt yesterday, all very easily cleaned and just part of the seating area upholstered, a simple h/w/e with very hot water did the trick , no pre spray , no aggitation just an extraction. £3.00 per chair done in 2 hrs.

I would suggest you tell the custy you wish to test clean one, discover how easy/difficult it may be and look for any adverse effects then go from their.

Thanks guys, all good advice as ever. Might go with Geoff's idea of test cleaning one chair and see how it goes.
Cheers.
Ben.
