Never had to use a static water source upto now and although my pressure washer says it is capable of doing it and came with the hose for doing so there was no guide on how to run using a static source, gave it a try with a water butt, managed to get the water running through it by elevating it but there is no constant pressure, keeps stuttering.
Any tips please.

I use a bulkhead fitting in the bottom of a wheelie bin with the filter inside.That way you will get a positive pressure on the feed. I have used mine sucking water from the sea on one job

i have seen someone sucking sea water out of a dock to clean ships.

Be sure to use a filter on your hose when drawing from a water butt or similar.

I think you also have to be wary of legionella too, as you are ultimately turning the water into a very fine spray / mist. I am not 100% positive on this but worth looking into. I will have a look and update if I get chance over the next day or so.


Not sure salt water is going to be to kind on the internals.

 That was 4 years ago and still going strong - I don't suppose you would have turned the work down ? I clean the kit out with clean water at the end of the day. The chlorine  in tap water will prevent legionella for the short time it spends in a wheelie bin, these problems are associated with the water in cooling towers that recirculates and evaporates off as a vapour. This water is treated with bromine. Theres no need to make things more complicated than it needs to be

Salt water is ok through your pressure washer. It's chemicals like tfr and bleach even disinfectant that destroys the seals
