Heat and run,probs !
« on: June 06, 2009, 03:12:45 pm »
Bought a new heat and run in feb,it`s been fine until a couple of days ago, when using the stair tool,it`s not cutting off,it just keeps on heating up until the reset button pops out !
Was doing it today on a job, tripped all the lec about 4 times, turned lec back on and pushed a key in to reset the h+r  !
OUCH gave me a right old whack, and popped the switch again ! won`t use anything metal in future.
It`s fine when using the wand, but overheats and trips when not using as much fluid with stair tool.
Does this sound like i have a duff one ? My last one looked  like it had been wired uo by a monkey when i undid the top section, not very impressed with the way it was put together,as wires were touching and were black and burnt.I always try and run on 2 seperate ring mains and try and use cooker socket if poss for the heater !
Any ideas folks, can`t be without it  :( and booked all next week again.

Have you had a look inside this one Mark?

Maybe as bad wiring wise as the other one, and maybe it can be sorted by yourself, or maybe an electrician needed.

I bought a heat and run about 18 months ago from Olympic cleaning started to get problems with it after 2 months took it to my local Prochem dealer they sent it back to Prochem got a brand new replacement a few days later.Once these heaters start playing up if its under warranty send it straight back iam on my 3rd in 4 years.

Got it from A+M cleaning supplies,12/03/09 will call them on monday and see what they say, might just take the switch panel off,but that won`t explain why the thermostat is not working,it gets really really hot then just cuts off

Only guessing, but maybe one of the wires is touching another and bypassing the thermostat.

Maybe best not to mess around too much if you can send back under warranty.

Had one years ago and also had probs with it,mark i wouldnt use it again till you sort it as its going to short the house fuse boxs again and it might cause some damage.

Dont you have a heater mark with your set up mate?

No the prochem machines don`t have heaters, quite why they were called steempro ,when the heater is a £400 optional extra.
Will stop using it until i have had it sorted out.

I've got one and it just gushes water out all over the shop and trips the leccy in the house - absolute piece of cr*p.  I took it to an Electrician pal of mine and he advised it's beyond repair.

four hundred sheets doon the drain!

Mark i wouldnt bother with one mate why dont you get an upgrade with a heater ???

Did use a prochem one years ago and found it was either cold or just piping hot :o

Then when it got too hot it used to split the solution hose ::)

Spoke to A+M this morning, got advised to look inside the thermostat cover, and turn it down a touch.
Took off the cover to get to it but it was full of water ! It`s under warranty still. as only bought it in March.
So it`s on it`s way back, was told i will prob be sent a new one out.Not good timing as allways, busy busy at the mo

Mark

Least your getting a new one then :)

Maybe try and see how you get on with just hot tap water as not sure what other options you will have if you still want to use a in line heater.

Have you had a go with  m power or a similar product that you can clean with either hot or cold water..

Yeah going to be using hand hot water, was told not to get it too hot or i will bugger the pump up !
Got 3 or 4 more jobs before i am on hol, possibility of it coming back before i go,but more likely it will be once i get back.
One of the jobs has booked me especially for steam extraction cleaning (due to them having cats, letting agy requirement) but going to call them tomorrow and explain, will prob offer them free permethrin, was going to charge them a £10 for that (just stairs and land)..

Did open it up,where all the wiring is too, looks like they have actually got some qualified people to wire it all up,instead of using monkey`s !
I have been told that once they start leaking they are bin fodder, seen the 2 on e bay over £50 now,not worth it if they are leaking, unless your good at tig welding, and then i don`t think you could weld stainless to copper..
