Help please
« on: June 08, 2009, 06:48:12 pm »
Hi all I am just starting with pure water cleaning and have taken a tds reading on my tap water of 306. Should I get a water softner to run the water through before the ro system. Also what is an adequate tds final reading for cleaning windows (what would be the highest) ????

You can dispense with the idea of a watyer softener Tom.

Go for an RO system with DI resin.

Ideal TDS is 0, I'd consider attention would be required once TDS gets to 03 but am sure others on here regularly go up to 8-10.

i change mine when gets to about 5 and get no problems. my mate uses his at 12 ppm and also has never had a problem. i think it is what the ppm left over is made up of . ie what minerals are left.

as soon as it goes over 000 I change it, as I like to use pure water, I do use 2 di vessels to cut down on the waste of resin doing this.

Getting into a habit of not using pure is not a good idea.

You could have a softner with your ro and di and it will bring the tds down out of the ro even more.

Thanks for the advise, surprisingly today I used my RO unit for the first time and my reading is 000. Nothing ever goes that smothley for me. I will try to keep it at that level now that I know it is achievable.
