Help! One of my clients has asked me to attend a meeting with his colleagues on Tuesday. He has pitched me as a cleaning guru.. Help... please give me some tips so I look like I know what I'm talking about. It will be covering things such as public toilet cleaing / urinals / office cleaning / mess rooms. Tips such as - using foam hand soap rather than liquid will save you 50% of your costs.... etc...etc..blah blah. You guys all seem to know a few things - please help!

hi there

loom or look !!!!!!!!!!!!

firstly, what is the obkective of the meeting, if it is already with a client, are you meeting other people from the same company., or are you meeting other potential clients  ??

if your client thinks you are a cleaning guru, then why do you need more advice, if you have already made a good impression on the first person.

its all a bit confusing.

Hi

As long as you put yourself across in a professional manner you should do alright and as martin said if your client thinks you are a cleaning guru, then why do you need more advice, if you have already made a good impression on the first person. Why does he want you to meet these people? and what would the out-come be if you answered all there questions?

Hi Jones,

Tips on what you are looking for would be difficult to advise. Each client is different and you have to judge each situation on its own merits.

If you want tips on just saving money you may not actually get the result that the client is actualy looking for. Just because the is a different product on the market that can save you 50% or more does not mean it would actually give the same or better result.

You need to find out exactly what the client wants to achieve apart from "clean" and high standards.

The type of offices and the actual state of the building will depend on the advice you can give. If the building is clean and the toilets are clean and fresh before you start then you wont need to purchase high cleaning products as all that would be required is a gentle wipe over to maintain the feel and look of the results already in place.

If you are cleaning a factory where the is grease, or a Quarry where there is nothing but mud and grease combined then you need to advise on certain chemicals to remove the debris and bring back the original look of the floor.

What is your clients objective in the way of the environment. Does he only want Green chemicals. These will be more expensive.

Window cleaning, depending on the condition of the building and window structure, UPVC, WOOD etc would you advise using WFP with 000 TDS reading or simply use traditional methods such as a sqegee and mop.

What about 2005 hight regulations.

Coshh sheets, method statements, Risk assesments.

So for me to advise I would need a little more information. As we could or I could advise incorrectly.

Best of luck Dave

I think if you get with your client and get the objective of the meeting you will be better off.  A meeting really should not be called without an objective, and if you can get a copy of the agenda you would know approx. how long you should plan on talking.  Perhaps they are considering more cleaning in another area and want your advice.

To be prepared you really need the objective and agenda, I think if you had this in hand you would find that you probably dont need much advice.

Cheers

Thanks all for the replies, much appreciated. You are all course right, I need a better understanding of what they want first. I'll come back to you with the specifics after tomorrow.

Thanks for reminding me I have already given the impression I'm a guru so no worries now actually
Oh, and its look not loom x

The above is rather funny! After you have pointed out a spelling mistake you also have one.

Do you mean Objective? Or Obkective are you creating a new word for the engish dictionary

hi there

i know you just cant get the quality of fingers to type properly these days can you!!!!!

it was all so much easier when you met colleagues, and clients face to face, or actually spoke to them rather than email or msgs, no spelling issues then.

that said i must go as i will be late for my meeting.

regards

martin.

and we all wonder why our gramma suffers !!!

Hey Jones,

How did it go, was it as tough as you thought?  Did you get on alright?  What was the meeting all about.  A little feedback on the thread.

Cheers
