@Groundhog/Harris Pole etc...
« on: May 28, 2009, 05:00:37 pm »
We now have a redundant pulex 3 part extension pole, about 5m in length open, and it has the holes at the top to fit the cone adapter which can be removed. If I was just to buy the angled pulex adapter it would fit straight in to the pole. From this could I not make a very simple pole with no cutting or adding of no1 unger parts etc...

http://www.windowcleancentre.co.uk/productdetails.aspx?ProductID=103&SectionID=13

the pole was only cheap and the angled adapter is only £4.95. No messing with cutting, just add a brush and hose and would this make a very simple "harris type" pole for roughly the same amount as the "patented" harris pole.

I would obviously buy a nice brush   ;)

Just a footnote on this.........is the screw thread on the end of the unger, pulex angle or cone adapters able to take a water fed pole brush thread?? i.e could i just buy one from a site and screw it straight onto the pulex angle adapter??

This is only a little project of mine having read the 35 pages of Harris pole, and we have a spare pole.

I use an unger teleplus pole. Pretty much the same thing as your pulex pole.

You need to get a brush adapter. I use a cleantech aluminium version, but unger do one, too. (I didn't find it lasted very long.) You can then use a standard vikan angle adapter or a pulex / unger type angle adapter.

ok, seeing as the pulex has a 3 lengths, I've bought a harris (no harm in spending 14.98...lol) The final piece of the pulex fits straight into the harris (riveted top taken off), I now have the pulex cone at the end of the pole. Are you saying Ian to purchase the pulex angle and place instead of the cone, then fit the brush adapter into the pulex angle??  If thats correct it will all fit in nicely. All I need to do is work out how to secure the end piece (pulex 6') when it is extended out of the main Harris body.

thanks Fieldsy

Yes, the brush adapter fits the pole or the angle adapter. I found the pulex angle adapter wasn't as rigid as the plastic vikan adapters.

2 ways of doing the same thing:

Pole - pulex angle adapter - brush adapter - brush
Pole - brush adapter - vikan angle adapter - brush

Excellent Ian. Thanks so much. Have just put it all together and now have a 21ft pole with a pulex cone which I can now change with the items you mentioned. No cutting or drilling, just snap them in place. The only prob I have is securing the top bit when its extended, but it is quite tight anyway.

With the second option Ian,  pole - brush adapter- viking angle - brush

how does the viking angle fit to the brush adapter as the brush adapter has a thread and similarly how does the brush attach to the angle (does the viking angle have a thread?)

I probs got it arse about face m8, so be patient with me............lol

thanks

The vikan adapter has threads at both ends, rather than a bayonet fitting.
The brush adapter has the same thread, so you can fit that to the pole to take the vikan adapter. A standard brush will then fit the thread of the adapter.

No worries.  ;D

Just a thought. If you order two of the vikan adapters, they can be screwed together to get over large sills. I don't need to do this, but I know others do.  :)
