Peugeot Expert/ Citroen Dispatch

Just wondering what the general consensus is on this model of van.

I am thinking of switching from the car to a van, so i want a van that will be big enough but also provide me with 3 seats if possible. So it looks like this type of van would fit the bill. so i was just wondering where there any problems or issues with them?

This the van i have been thinking about myself as it has 3 front seats and plenty of room in the back. Spoke to my mechanic only this week on the subject and he tells me the HDI engine in the experts are very good engines with plenty of pull, looking at the older models they dont seem to suffer much rust, this is all i know mate

i have the citroen dispatch, its the old type and its a really dependable van, has plenty of room in the back for the tank and any shelfing you want to put in it but as ive said the best thing for me is its never let me down yet!! i have a friend who has the new one and he says its very similar and really likes it! the 3 seats in the front are an added bonus. The fiat scudo is the same van also as the expert and the dipatch!

I have the HDI and think its great, carry 600 ltrs most days no problem. Mine was only a 2 seater but fitted 3 seats later on.

oh another quick question...what are they like on the juice? i have heard they can be quite uneconomical, yet others have told me that they are decent compared to vans like the transit.

Citroen is an Isuzu engine I believe which is less reliable so I've been informed by a reputable mechanic. Peugeot and Fiat share the same engine block.

Citroen also use their own unique raise/lower suspension system which is very useful for loading/unloading.

we used to have a 93 1.9d escort, it was a great wee motor, wuda done a 80mile run for 3pound in diesel.

we went wfp and needed a bigger van, got a 97 dispatch, paid 1k for it off a dealer.  There was 130k miles when we got it, its got 160k now, we have 650ltr water in it everyday, and pulls heavy trailers and tows my dads banger all the time, real good workhorse.

but when the escort used to take us 80miles on 3 pound, the same run is about 15pound in the dispatch

other than that i cant fault it dou

We run quite a few dispatches and they are very reliable, due to large fuel tanks be carefull with weight situation, if you have the older model (not HDI) they are a heavy engine, so if you had 3 people, a full fuel tank and 650 ltrs of water you'ed be over on weight, where as the new lighter engine ok, unless 3 fattys on board!!

Citroen has no association with Isuzu. General Motors are linked with Isuzu and use the Isuzu engines in some Vauxhalls. The engines in the Dispatch and Peugeot have always been the same. I understand that the 2.0 JTD Fiat is a rebadged Peugeot engine. The new Fiat Multijets aren't.
The Ford TDCI is a product of the association that Ford has with Peugeot/Citroen (PSA) for diesel engines. The TDdi in earlier Transits and Transit Connects are Ford's own engine.

The Dispatch has ordinary suspension, and isn't self raising or self levelling.

Pug and Citroen are the same company. So they will use exactly the same mechs/paints etc except the badge!

You'll just get different deals at the showroom.

As stated PSA own peugeot/citroen, always the same engine.  RE: Fuel consumption.
I have 2005 Expert non hdi model,  (HDI get better mpg) with 500 l tank. Get 26mpg. Wouldn't buy such a small van again.  Had it a year, had no trouble.  IMO fuel consumption is terrible esp for the lack of space you get.
