If anyone wants to speak to me for advice about starting up they are welcome, I may even put a "how to set up" section on my web site. There is nothing to fear about new cleaners setting up, I don't know why the new cleaners should have to be underhand about it.

Had a few asking if i need to take on.

Had people asking how much i charge, but i never give out prices over the phone. I always make an arrangements to visit them, go over their requirements, get to see what im quoting for, and get a chance to meet them. It works both ways..

Those that ask for a price over the phone are likely to be other cleaners or those wanting to know prices, or are just price hunters.. which im not after.

if anyone does ask for "help", unless i personally know them i wouldn't give them any specific advise, i would refer them to a forum like this, or tell them to make use of the internet.

We have a window cleaner that goes around our area who follows other window cleaners and writes down the addresses of their jobs then goes back to try to under cut everyone.

I was out over the weekend visiting the inlaws and could see another w/c in the next street up this ladders and i stood watching and with this dirty rag he wiped the window but not the fames,  wiped it dry and down he scuttled off his ladders to the next window and did the same.  As i'm WFP thought it was funny due to the lack of quality.

Thought about going over and showing him the difference in a window cleaner and a glass cleaner
