Quickest / Best way to remove Limescale?
« on: May 26, 2009, 08:49:46 am »
I promised a lady that I would remove a serious amount of limescale form two windows, caused by a leaking overflow pipe just above them. They are seriously furred up, must have been leaking for a long time, and I just wanted some tips on the best stuff to get it off,as quickly as possible.
Previously Ive shaved off with the poo scraper, which does work, but takes ages.

What do you guys use on these?

put some limescale remover (like you use on shower heads and taps ) in a spray bottle and try that with a scraper.

I've never tried it but the 2 ladies from 'How clean is your house' used to swear by using white vinegar to remove limescale and at about 29p for supermarket own brand it is worth a try!

I use lime-lite trigger spray for most.

Spray on leave for a few mins,

then soap up with mop and squeegee off.

Crystal clear 550 is very good i've used on windows with concrete surrounds that marks would just not come off.
WARNING: someone one here said they damaged a window using this and had to pay to replace pane.

but my experience is it was very good.( from windowcleancentre)

That was me  ::) didn't replace it but did ruin it. It does funny things to glass too, like making it hydrophylic - water beads like mad afterwards and shows every wipe mark where it was applied by the way the beads form. Seems to dry off ok in the end.

Make sure you get a damage waiver signed first.. No point trying to help out if you stuff it up :P

I do that for anything i do - paint removal, white spot etc.

Not guaranteed to work 100%, and cannot guarantee no damage.
