Has anyone tried Magic Sand off Advanced Sealing Solutions.Its a liquid you add to your sand to make it hard after brushing it in to joints.It says on the tin it should be mixed mechanically.I`ve only used the ready made stuff that comes in a tub from the B&Q but it is too dear (£14),excellent stuff though available in different colours.Just had a delivery of magic sand liquid but a bit concerned if you can`t mix it in by hand.Thanks Dan

I looked at this a while back. Spoke to ASS about this and they never mentioned the need for mechanical mixing. They made it sound really simple, but I did wonder about proper mixing of the sand and 'magic sand' together. The magic sand is liquid, isn't it?

Glad I gave it a miss now.

Let us know how you get on though, especially regarding the results when you get to grips with it.

Incidentally, did you only buy one for testing or more for specific jobs?

I got 4 tins as postage was £9,tins are very neat and resealable so you can use what you want and store away.The ready made stuff is many times as expensive and you have to get it down in an hour.It says on the tin mix mechanically,this is a bit of a worry cos who carries a mixer on the van.I want it really for pointing joints on york flags etc or block with joints wider than 6mm.It could be handy for when you blow a few joints out,you can mix a bit of this and just brush it in for a quick repair.I`m going to bell them next week anyway to order some sealer and colouring for a few printed concrete jobs coming up.I`ll let you know how i get on.

It's fantastic stuff. Just put some liquid into a part bag of sand (or as much as you need) wear gloves an put yer hands in the bag and just mix like dough, pushing it through your fingers. You can then just fold the top over on the bag. This will keep it useable longer than in open air.

Its easy to mix mechanically you just put the mix in a bucket put the mixing attachment into the end of a drill and away you go.
If you intend to seal the surface after you use the magic sand especially on paving,make sure that you clean the area before you seal,as there will be a reaction,found out the hard way.

it soundslike a lot of hassle to me??  just clean and sand it and move onto next job.

Thanks for feedback.After the result i had with the pre-mixed stuff from B&Q it is well worth the hassle,i`m moving onto this instead of Keybond as this stuff can do wider joints were as keybond is for joints under 10mm.Thanks anyway,Dan
