Unger type cones
« on: May 15, 2009, 06:21:02 pm »
I have a telescopic pressure washer lance which is a rather clumsy affair (after using Gardiners class kit) and is fitted with those horrible twisty lock unger/harris type cones.
My question is - how do you stop the bleeders from jamming? I've greased the threads, drawn little arrows on the shaft so I don't turn them the wrong way and still they stick. My wrists aren't as good as they were before I got married so is there a way of avoiding jams?

Measure the internal & external diameters of each pole section. Phone all the suppliers to see if any of their clamps will replace the twist lock clamps that you disprove of for health reasons (Repetitive Strain Injuries) to make your life easier. Ask Alex of 'Gardinerpolesystems' if their 'bicycle style' quick lock clamps will fit. I keep meaning to strip down a Tucker pole, measure it and if suitable, replace the Pennel clamps with the clamps on the new SL-2 poles when I get around to it. I see Halfords now sell the quick adjuster replacement clamp that are fitted on the new SL-2.
