I used to get really worried about being overdue,sometimes to the point that i would contact customers and apologise.Now i just realise that being overdue is how i work,sometimes i catch up sometimes i dont.I tell the customers that i cannot work to a fixed schedule and they are fine with that.I dont want to be beholden to customers and schedules,i came into the job to have less stress so i dont want to cause it myself.

For the last couple of years now I tell my domestic customers- roughly a calander month, no sooner than 4 weeks but maybe up to 6 depending on weather. I try to keep them to 5 weeks. They are all happy with this & it gives me some breathing space & flexibility to hand.
I used to be 4 weekly but personaly I think this is a tad too soon for most & I have too much work now anyway.

I keep my commercial accounts near enough on the dot though.

I know exactly what you mean with the 4 to 6 week thing. It gives a little bit more flexiblity.
If only the bank manager was the same with the mortgage repayments though!!

It's chucking it down here and I'm up to date. Got a full day that is only just due today, but I'm not worried. I can try and rustle up a bit more work today by ringing around some potential commercial customers. Although I can foresee that with the current economic climate everyone is cutting back.

Went to a garage yesterday and quoted for windows and exterior panels of the building. Could be a very good earner, but then asked one of the salesmen how many cars they had sold in past week. He answered 1 the week before and none this week. Can't see me getting that job somehow.
