Havent read through your post but  i have a TDS varying from 40 - 50... used a RO system for 2 years without having to change resin in a very small DI bottle...came out at 000, and after 2 years i think 005 was the highest it went.

Few months back i smashed the ro in frost (again) i thought thought im gonna try 2 x DI bottles...in about 3 months ive gone through just over 2 bags of resin...so sod that in my opinion resin costs about £70 - £80 a bag...compared to my not having to change resin in 2 years

Im not telling you what to do, telling you my experience.  ;) Just something to think about...

With the DI's did you purify on demand or fill tank through them?

DI Vessel £97.00  :o Hope those are filled with resin. You best buy a 11l + vessel, nothing smaller. That is about the right size for tap pressure.

Microbore hose, you can pick 100m up for around £50.00

25l bag depending on make should last you 4-6 months , don't know what LWC was using :o

£97 filled from pure freedom is 6.5ltr volume, 6x18inches. i know cos i got one. and wish i'd have known about D.A Supplies they do 11ltrs filled for £107 delivered!! and like his other posts, are quality vessels. and like he says about the size of the vessel, its got more to do with just how much resin you can put in, its how much volume of water and litres/min it can cope with too.

If funds are tight, you needn't buy the second vessel immediately.  11 litres should last you a few weeks before the TDS starts to climb.  Maybe buy a vessel this month and another one next month - before the TDS starts to rise.  If you do this, make sure you keep a close check on the TDS though.

No mate, it's pants, I used to use it when I first started out (didn't know any different) then I got some dowex just by chance (decided to use a different supplier) & couldn't beleive the difference. I've always kept records from day one of my resin usage, that's almost 5 years now & it makes it quite clear that purolite isn't up to the job. Even on a twin DI system purolite isn't any good as it doesn't hold a low TDS at all. I decided to try some tulsion from DA. SERVICES last year, I'm still on the same bag & it's even outlasting the Dowex.
The other point to extending resin life is to purify on demand, i.e. have vessels on van so the flow through them is very slow & not blasting through as it would if you were filling your tank through them.
If you were to do the above I would guarantee you satisfaction with resin consumption. ;)

With your tap purity LWC I wouldn't use an RO at all & if your working area has the same(ish) soft water you could just top up on site with custy's tap if you ever get low on water.

I would put your DI's after the pump too. ;)

Off to the beach now with the little 'un, that's the beauty of this job! :D
