Get a length of black wire and put a crocodile clip on one end.  Attach the other end to the negative side of the pump (the terminal with the black wire on it)

Get a length of red wire and put a crocodile clip on the end.  Put a 15amp fuse in the line, and a toggle or rocker switch.  Attach the other end to the positive side of the pump.

When you want to use the pump, attach the crocodile clips to the appropriate battery terminals.

Switch on.

You can actually dispence with the switch and the fuse; it'll work just as well.

I have mine connected to a spare 12v battery in the back of my van.

Don't get rid of the fuse, it's easier and cheaper to replace a fuse than a pump

Don't do it.

If the battery's a tiny bit past its best you could easily flatten it while you're working, and then where would you be?

An 85ah leisure battery will set you back about £50-60 and will last a couple of days between charging.

Do it, i did it in mine and run 2 systems al day long.

In the vivaro the battery is under the passenger side panel, take a red and a black of it and run to you pump/varistream

what a load of rubbish, dont connect to van battery,
been using my van battery for 3 years pluss now no problems, theres this thing called an altonator which charges the battery when the van is moving.

do you know how much current the pump uses under full load, i  measured it 850ma which is nothing.

use your van bettery, a leasure battery is just another thing the suppliers want to flog to you

does that not mean you have to have the vehicle running with the keys in it while you are round the back of someones property? 

My van would get whipped round here
