Hi All,
I have just had a cc's leaflet delivered to my home,offering a CFR  Ozone system .
It is claiming to kill 96% of all bacteria in carpets as well as using no chemicals or detergents.
Is the equipment state of the art or is it a case  that 97.3% of all statistics are made up.
Are any of you using this system and can you recommend it?

Hi Eddie,

I have no knowledge of this machine but would comment on the Ozone aspect.

Most customers would have a negative perspective of Ozone as something which is enviromentally dangerous,depletion of Ozone layer etc.

Without getting into the technicalities of this i don't think it would be a big selling point!

this machine has been available for around 6-7 years and the concept is ...........

to create ozone, rather than destroy it!!!

that being so, surely it must have a very positive marketing appeal, rather than negative

I know that : which is why I didn't go in to the technicalities.

However Ozone is perceived as bad by the majority of people.

Ozone is deadly in the lower atmosphere, i studied chemistry for 8 years and rem the COSHH assements for using it.  If you want to find out more do a google for low level ozone.

In the upper atmosphere its a handy molecule for filtering UV radiation.  However, lower down its responsible for many negative health effects and i sure wouldnt mention it in an advert for services.

The levels of ozone produced by said machine are significantly lower than the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) permissible exposure levels.

If the use of ozone was dangerous, do you really think companies like Amtech and a great many others in this and associated businesses would be using ozone generators and have been for many years

Perhaps checking the facts might be wise, before scaring anyone reading these posts.

I use Laser and a variety of elctrotherapy devices when treating a number of physical ailments.

Electrticity kills, absolutely, but not at the level I use it at.

I think you will find the same applies to the use of ozone.

Ozone as generated by Ozone machines and the like is actually a modified form of Oxygen. This is produced by arcing of an electrical current. This modified Oxygen is also produced during lightning storms and is partly why you get such a fresh feeling afterwards.
Ozone is also a very strong oxidising agent and as such is excellent for destroying odours caused by bacteria and other substances.
We retail these machines mainly for the use in fire restoration, however they are widely used in nursing and care homes and also increasingly in toilets & washrooms. They are actually the preffered method of odour control in washrooms in Australia. Excessive Ozone production can lead to lung damage, however the machines we sell only produce safe amounts as per current health & safety guidelines. There is a lot of negativity regarding Ozone and I am sorry to say that a lot of this eminates from large multi-national companies who produce alternative consumer air fresheners which invariably are produced from petro chemicals and which fill your home or workplace with potentially harmfull VOC's
