Hi , been trad for 23 yrs, 4months ago went WFP upstairs only,told customers expect some spotting etc for first few cleans.Thought things were fine until a few customers  on the fourth clean have complained about spotting and streaks left by WFP. Checked water, 000. ppt,then remembered reading on here about the type of brush to use,could it be the brush leaving the poor results,i have a Vikan brush which i use most which is quite stiff, i also have ionics brushes that i occasionally use they are much softer. How exactly does the brush make that much differance???What type of brush do you all recomend, rather spend money on best brush and get best results!!!! regards Dave Allen :

I found i just had to use lots of water for the first few cleans then about about 5 cleans i can now turn down the veristream to about 11 o'clock and give them a quick rub once or twice over and a quick rinse and there fine.

I use a trolly so only around 20% of my round is wfp hopefully increasing that to about 50% this year but it does take time getting used to how to clean the windows with wfp just like trad!

my roman tds meter says 000 out of ro
but handheld meter says 008,
and my other handheld says 012?? same model,
so i use highest figure  meter, best way is to test your water is on one of your own windows to see results. are you using resin?

Dave where in the UK ar you, maybe someone can help you, if your near me you welcome to come and clean my windows and test your water and find out what the problem you are having is. My guess would be the way you are doing it or your tds meter is up the swanny

I try to clean my brushes at the end of each day, I take them off and put them in a bucket of pure water in the back of the van so by the time I get home the brushes have had a good shake and clean for the next day, I use Vikan brushes and have no problems with them.

i use vikans no problems here, are you sure the dirt is not coming down from the vents

Most problems are like Joe said the vents. After that i would say the tops of the frames on the opening windows. Run your finger along the downstairs windows and you wouldn't believe how dirty they can be. If your brushing the frames it's likely your disturbing the dirt on the top. You either have to clean them every time or avoid the top frame completely and only wash up to the bevelled edge. I don't believe brushes make that much difference to spotting provided your rinsing off the glass but dirty top frames will.

Vents never cause me any problems at all i brush over them not under them,if you use a Vikan brush on the glass to rinse it`s a no no.I only use a flocked brush to get everything clean on the first couple of cleans after that it`s always mono,there is simply no need to rinse brush off the glass these days with the brushes available all you`ll do is give yourself backache,be confident and rinse brush on try it on your own window`s and see for yourself a good flow of water and a good mono brush you`ll never lift the brush again.

90% or more of all spotting and streak problems are caused by milky frames. Stage one is to ask the customer if you can go inside and have a look from the inside. You will see it then and it will become obvious what is happening.

Probably a quarter of all windows are prone to this to some degree or another. When the paint gets oxidised it sheds the white pigment. It is most apparant on windows that face towards the sun.

Get into the habit of wiping the frames with your finger to see if the paint is coming off.

Double rinsing deals with most of it and most frames get better once the worst has come away. Some window frames are so bad it just looks like when you clean a paintbrush thats been used with white emulsion under a tap.
You can bite the bullet and give the frames a really good scrub to try and shift it but be careful because the paint gets trapped in your brush and can still be in the brush on the next window.
