Move clean
« on: February 24, 2009, 03:26:32 pm »
Hi guys-I am in Cornwall with a 12 month old cleaning buisness..mostly domestic but also doing change over cleans in the summer for holiday cottages. I have just been asked to suply a price to clean an empty 3 bedroom house-have n,t seen it yet, but apparnetly she has let the house work fall behind-is now moving out and her landlord wants it cleaned up. Do I do by the hour or an over all price?? Any advise gratefully given. Many apologies if replies are not answered quickly I only get to check computer in the evening. This is my e-mail centralcleaning@hotmail.co.uk.

Thanks in advance..pS have got loads more questions later for you all!!

I normaly work out how many hours it will take and the cost of materials then work out the hourly rate that you would expect for the work you will be doing
Always add some extra for just incase and give them an overall price i dont like to say an hourly rate as they look at you and think why should you be on £16 per hour so i always state a price for the total job.

Atleast that way they cant say well you left 20 mins early,

Hi liz

As a guide, I estimate 1 hour per living room, hallway or bedroom, 3 hours for a kitchen and 2 hours for a bathroom (just 1 for a cloakroom).  This is for a thorough top to bottom clean, wash of all woodwork, inside cupboards, fridges, oven, etc and all interior windows.

Hope that helps, but I agree with Rob, don't tell them the hours, just give them a price but don't forget to emphasise what you will do for the price.

If you feel that the price is going to be too high for them then ask them if they would like an 'essentials' clean instead, no windows and no woodwork and knock something off but warn them their landlord will be expecting the 'bells and whistles' service.

Hope that helps

Diane
