Setting up WFP system
« on: February 25, 2009, 10:26:29 pm »
Hi all,

My first time on here, i hope you guys can be of help.

Ive been cleaning windows for five years with someone else, but ive recently set up my own run. Its small at the minute but im building all the time. im fed up going up and down the ladder so thoght a pole system would be good.

have you guys any opinions or suggestions on what i should go about doing.

I was thinking of setting up a static system using a merlin or 4040 system. but its the mobile unit i cant decide on. i have a car and trailer that i use for doing power washing work, i had though of using a cube in it and working with a self built trolley system. Do you guys think a built would be better than the trolley system?

ok thats a lot of writing! i hope it makes sense!

Welcome on your first post to CIU.

If you know what you are doing then I would recommend doing your self build trolley because you'll probably prefer to use a car/van mount tank in a short time anyway so you'll save the expense of a more expensive ready made trolley.

Trailers are a nightmare for parking, turning, manoeuvring, parking, turning,.... I'd NEVER recommend a trailer system to anyone I liked!

If you can afford it, get a van, fit a low level (flat tank) and 100mtrs microbore. If commercial is your thing then go for 650ltrs or if mainly domestic 400ltrs.
This should do you for the life of the van then can be transferred to the next van.

Ps never used a trolley, but I don't like the idea of having to cart it about.

i use a box trailer and now never have to take it off to reverse etc, just takes practice, but if you can afford a van go for it straight away.

I have used a trolley and my WFP work only really took-off properly when I ditched it and went for a vehicle tank.

I also used a trailer (400L) behind the vehicle for larger contracts, but once again life only got better when I got rid of the trailer.

This is what I wish someone had told me back then (8 years ago).

Buy a van, according to your budget, and fit a 400-500 litre flat tank in it.

That's it! If someone had told me this I would have earned more money and worked much quicker.

Yea I'm so glad I went Van mount immediately. My 400 does it's job on Domestics really well, and usually I only use around 250-300l, but for some commercial I wish I had a 500l one.

thanks guys, thats all great advice. it gives me a lot {more}to think about.

I agree that a van system would be the best way to go, but with a budget and only a small run at the moment, i dont think i can stretch to that just yet.

the way i see it, by buying the static RO system and setting myself up with the main components of the mobile unit, i can work with a trailer or trolley system till a time when i have the money andthe run to justify switching to a van.

have any of you guys built your own trolly system before?

i run my trailer qith the freedom trolley in the back set up to a 250 ltr flat tank and 50m of microbore, works fine.but a 400 litre tank is on the wish list which i will fill to about 350 litres.
