Credit crunch marketing tip No 1
« on: February 03, 2009, 03:50:48 pm »
A few years ago a carpet cleaner that I knew, was just starting up and posted a good few thousand leaflets.
He got a return of 2 jobs. he eventually got fed up and started working delivering for kleaneeze ,or betterware.

After a few weeks he was making about £200   a month commission .

He then noticed that 25% of his turnover was carpet cleaning related ie foam cleaner astonish etc.

So he then began to put his leaflets in the carpet cleaning section, within a few weeks he started to get jobs roughly about 3 a week from 300 mags delivered.

And he was getting paid for doing it .
there is lots of ideas like this but other cc dont tend to share them ,hope this works for you

That is a common problem. "he posted a few thousand leaflets"
Too many cleaners do this and get dispondant when they only get one or two enquirees. Thats all you can expect unless you are very lucky.
A leaflet campaign needs to be that, a campaign. The leaflets need to go through the same letterbox time after time for it to be financially worthwhile. Putting a few out here and a few there is a waste of time and you may as well dump them in the nearest bin and save the effort.

The advantage of doing the way kleeneeze do it .

1)  They target areas
2) Build up a client base
3) You are using a well recognized brand name
4) You are getting paid for delivering them even if you don’t get any jobs
5) You are getting to know a client base ,and become trusted.
6) You become familiar face people like to buy from people they know.
7) You are delivering only a few hundred

Half half's good gear, I once walked back to Culdrose and talked to myself all the way there..... Loopy juice!

Could pop out for one or 2 on Sat!

Neil, I wasn't saying the Kleeneze way wasn't good. Its a good idea. I was just pointing out the initial mistake the guy made and is made over and over again by carpet cleaners.

John

you are right it is basically a numbers game .

!1) you need to reach as many potential custys as poss
2) You have to make it as easy as possible for them to contact you
3) You have to visit every one if you are to max the ticket price.
4) You MUST have a system in place the repeats the same standard and message every time
5) always follow up with accurate detailed information of every job you do ie where did they get your no were they satisfied when can i book you in for the next clean would you like protector etc.
^ keep in touch with your core custys as they are the future

I know a lot of you know this, this is for the benefit of the new starters.
