INTRODUCTION

Scope

This document describes the method and safety considerations whilst carrying out window cleaning at ..................................................

Objective

The objective of this method statement is to carry out the work specified in a safe, professional and efficient manner.

Responsibility

The manager of M.H.W CLEANERS is responsible for the establishment, implementation and maintenance of this document.  He is also responsible for ensuring that the execution of the operation is in compliance with the method statement.
 
 M.H.W   CLEANERS
METHOD STATEMENT

Equipment

Buckets,squeegees, water applicators,scrapers for removing paint ect
Absorbent cloths, chamois leather,sponges and scrims.
Ladders,step ladders, scaffolding, extension poles, High-Pole Water System reaching as high as 65 ft
Cleaning agent,non abrasive and environmentally safe
Warning signs and cones
Protective and Hi-Vis clothing.

Access Method

Access to the exterior glass of the building will be cleaned with high reach water fed poles.

Access to the interior glass of the building will be gained by using steps or ladders where necessary using all safety devices.

Site Preparation

Appropriate areas will be cordoned off and warning signs used where safety is an issue (Protect Public). Work may be carried out (if requested) out of normal working hours to minimise disruption.

Cleaning Method

For the cleaning of windows the following method will be used:
   
a. Outside windows will be cleaned using high reach pure water fed poles,
    the water purified by way of reverse osmosis and exchange resin beads.
    No drying is required as pure water dries naturally.
   
b. Water with a light detergent shall be used for inside window cleaning

c. The inside windows will be cleaned using a synthetic applicator, with
     the cleaning solution being removed with a rubber squeegee.

d. Any subsequent runs or smears will be removed with a scrim or
    microfibre cloth.

Personal Protective Equipment

The following will be worn:

a.     High visibility shirt or vest where appropriate.

b.    Suitable footwear that is in good condition , has good grip and is flexible enough to feel the position of the foot on the ladder rung.

Safety

All work will be supervised with fully IOSH trained staff, who have experience in the use of equipment specified above.
Ladders and mobile access equipment must be securely anchored before starting.

All staff have been updated with the Health and Safety procedures contained in HSE Directives

Don't know about the others but I thought misc613 had been superceded by WAHR2005.
