I clean and collect as i go ,collect as much as i can and it makes it a bit easier,dornt want to many cheques going in my account.I know its a pain collecting but its got to be done,my theory is, if the taxman wants his share let him go  round collecting the money.

I went to royal mail's website and there is a setup charge for freepost. £116.50 (£73.40 for a licence and £43.10 deposit)

I know of one long standing cleaner that rings up the night before, and his customers leave the money or cheque in a pre arranged hiding place. It works for him, but I doubt if it would work with some of my lot.
The last two days I have been working on a marina complex, mostly holiday homes, never a problem with these, they either send a cheque or pay online.
I do other areas where many don't even have a cheque book, so no point in leaving an envelope for them.
You have to adapt to your customers, I have lost many a job because I didn't collect and the bill mounted up.
I guess that most of us have some customers who we never worry about, we know they always pay,
with others you have to be more careful, and for these collecting is the only way.

I was chatting to a carpenter the other day trying to explain to him how many of my customers feel they don't need to pay. He was amazed - "but if you buy something in a shop you don't say - Ill pay next month or maybe the one after do you?" he said.

isnt that expensive it all depends on your bak but roughly 30 quid a month rental i was quoted, cant rememer all the details though. but he way i see it if they have no cash and cant find cheque book chances are they will be an excuse about the card

so you mean whilst workin, go round and post a letter? then go back later to collect?
It may sound silly but Im new to this... any means of not going back around to collect?

you are making things more and more complicated for yourself by taking in too much information.

get some self seal envelopes.... stick your name and address on them...(print labels)

pop a card in the envelope,( making sure its sticking out .)...saying "your windows have been cleaned today, please forward a cheque using the envelope provided within the next 7 days, thank you "

They will all start to send the cheques... the ones who cant will let you know, and you can make other arrangements.

This is what i do, and they all send cheques or pay at the time of cleaning....

Get all phone numbers of all your customers... then when one or two go beyond the 7 day period ... text them...! say hi, its the window cleaner have you forgotton me?....

they will reply.... and wont be late again...

it works for me.... i collect on..... none.
