40 foot
« on: January 18, 2009, 06:58:06 pm »
Worked at 40 foot yesterday for the first time cleaning the windows on a office block. The windows came up great which I was pleased about, but now my shoulders are absolutely killing me.
I think this is because of the height had to take the weight of my carbon fibre pole and do all the work with my shoulders and arms rather than walking with the pole
My point is do others find this working at these sort of heights that you get this pain after and do you have any tips
Thanks

Seriously though....i found working at that height was a strain, mine being in the lower neck as  well, but i found that working regularly at this height stopped the problem. It must be the use of muscles that are not normally used ,just take it easy.

I find wfp harder on the body than trad. I've been wfp nearly 5 years & use carbon poles with super-lite brushes & still I've only ever had injury from wfp!

thank you not many mention the down side of wfp

I am just realistic & honest. I could write you a page full of downsides to wfp!

For the last 5 weeks i have been working with a broken shoulder, and I have been cleaning windows at 60', no problems so far.

Think i used muscles that never normally get used. Saying that no pain no gain should end up getting arms like a weight lifter, plus being able to work at that height means I am now getting jobs would have never be able to do in the past

my advice would be to take up fitness4x4 training you will never ache using  wfp again check the website www.fitness4x4.com and watch the video in the about us section, when you train your muscles to work this way your stamina goes through the roof i can personally now hold 20kg in each hand and then alternately push above head continuosly for about 30 minutes which is about 400 reps so using even a so called heavy wfp for long periods seems very easy.
better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove any doubt
