I understand that the delays have been going on a while now and I assure you that I am very frustrated as well. I do apologise for this situation. There are other options out there and if time is of an issue then by all means purchase something else.

The alternatives to consider are:

34ft Facelift (31.5ft) which could be cut down - £764 - 2.58kg
31ft Carbon X-Tel £477 - 2.8kg

Both of the above poles are good choices if you cannot wait any longer.

I cannot see how the credit crunch would affect technical issues that have put back the launch time.

You do know, dont you, that the delay has nothing to do with "them".

Unfortunately I do not know exactly how many will be coming in on the 25th. This is due to the breaking of several mandrels in the factory (which even I could not have foreseen!).  They are working round the clock to get as many ready as they can but once we've started receiving them, they will be coming in regular fortnightly batches.

Can anyone tell me the new features on the pole please,a picture would be better.

Hi NWH

I will not be posting any pictures until they are ready for retail sales.  The new features of the pole are as follows:

Shorter closed length (5'5") due to smaller distance between clamps
5' longer in overall length due to new top section
Fingertip clamp adjustment
Slightly lighter clamps (20% lighter)
New carbon fibre weave giving a lighter, stronger material
Improved tolerances between sections, improving rigidity
Integral coloured bands to mark overlap stops with easy slide on/slide off sections
Improved handling characteristics due to lighter top section, making the pole feel even better balanced

sorry alex dont mean any think by that,we just want to no what the delay is we no your wfp is the best around and are going nutts waiting for it ??? nim like a new kid with a toy!! :'(

The basic delay is a manufacturing fault on the No2 section.  We had a whole batch of them delivered over a month ago and we were ready to assemble them and send them out when I noticed that the top 4cm of this section had a 0.2mm narrowing which meant that in the closed position the pole span slightly on this one section.  Because of this one fault, we've had the subsequent delay.  In the middle of it, the factory went and broke several of the mandrels that these were made on which had to be replaced to continue.  Throw in a two week Xmas shutdown at the factory and you have one very annoying delay.

I am frustrated that there has been delay after delay and will feel a lot more relaxed when they are sitting on the shelf as a regular stock item but then with my record there'll always be another project running overdue!

Can you drop the pole from height without it jamming,if the clamps are improved i could cope with that but the most important things to me is the jamming and overall length.I take it you`ve got over the fact that you have to keep adjusting the clamps.

I imagine that you've had this issue in the past when sliding the sections down fast which allows the clamps to come too close together.  I suspect this has happened because the end cap hasn't been fitted properly or the section below hadn't been closed down fully thereby allowing the next section to drop a bit lower.  Most people have never had this issue. The new pole has quite different reinforcing at the end of each section which I imagine would overcome this issue you've had.

Personally I don't have to keep adjusting the clamps.  Once correctly Loctited I probably adjust them about once every two months.  The new pole though has completely different clamp adjustment which can be done with your fingertips.

Alex, have i missed something - how do you get the extra five feet? Do you have an extra top section over the 25' version? If so, it must be fairly small in diameter and will this slide in to existing 25 footers?

The 17ft X-Tel is 5' 1" the new SL-X is 5' 5" so it is 4" longer when closed than the 17ft X-Tel.

It does have an extra top section when compared to the 25ft version. And effectively it does just slide in the top. It is smaller in diameter, but due to the quality of the carbon fibre the pole is actually slightly more rigid than the older version.

This does allow the opportunity to upgrade the old pole to 30ft length. You would need to replace the current top section with the two new top sections (No.1 and No.2).

When would these be available? It would make a sensible upgrade for last years buyers. My top sections are the ones wearing the fastest so it could be the best solution rather than buy a complete new pole one day.

These will be available in February as an upgrade kit.  I thought they would be popular so I made sure I pre-ordered some.
