Is hot water needed on regular cleans
« on: January 12, 2009, 05:31:48 pm »
As topic reads  ;)

This got me thinking i have never really had any problems using cold water on regular cleans but it can struggle a bit on 1st and dirty cleans,
so i don`t really want to go down the full hot water system route,i am thinking of adding a smallish tank to my exsisting system say between 50 and 100L (and can be added or removed when ever needed)and either filling it with cold water and heating it with a 12v element on the way or heating it at home with a 240v source and insulating the tank,so when ever i get a job that`s a bit stubborn i can use hot water if needed
(just a thought)  ;D  ;)

nothing wrong with cold water, it's just an easier pleasanter job with hot.

I don't think your idea would work, and if it did the benefits would be small compared to the extra bother.

Why don`t you think it would work ?
i read the comments about how good hot water was on dirty jobs how easier it was removing the dirt, and it would`nt really be much bother to set it up  ;)

Hot water is better than cold water IMO for first cleans and regular cleans, first cleans are not like first cleans with hot water and on regular jobs it`s a lot quicker and you can work with far more confidence.PVC and painted wooden windows come up like new with hot as the hot water gets into all those cracks and crevices and remove the dirt with ease,i reckon you can do frames glass and sills in the same time you can do glass only with cold.Hot on regular jobs is just a case of flashing over everything to get it clean again well worth the investment.

Of course it would work, but do you really want to go to the extra effort of plumbing in a seperate tank with heating element?

Im thinking of using my L5 for one off or dirty jobs only, and keep the rest cold.

You have to run it for a few minutes before it comes through hot, and if the holding tank is warmish rather than piping then it would be hard to feel any difference at the brush head even after ten minutes.

Heaters are cheap, you can use them turned off, you can disconnect easily, and if it's for occassional use you can use a small gas bottle. Get your heater in the UK though if you get one.

I have used hot for a couple of days now. Mostly the same really, but snails trails just wipe of, bird poo a bit quicker, frames a bit better.

I suppose taken together its worth it.

Its mostly for the soft hose to be honest :)
