I think you'll find that this idea won't go down very well with Tescos, Sainsbury's etc etc.
If they think you've been parked there for excessive amounts of time (ie what could be construed as a sensible time to do the shopping-normally about 2 hours) then you could be clamped. Most of 'these' places will have a notice somewhere saying how long you can park for free.

You have two hours at Tescos

My wife works there weekends, she takes the spare van and parks it by the main doors, then gives them the reg of the van, and it can sit there all day long!! lol  ;D

problem is you could get jobs from a 20 mile radius of the store so end up with 2 jobs 40 mile apart

Does that matter if they are good earners? of course not, you are only limited to your own limitations.

I try and park in our busy high st sometimes if I'm out shopping/banking etc. Though just sitting in traffic will get you noticed so I wouldn't really worry about it mate.

I did think about getting my 12 year old son to dress up as a human billboard advertising window cleaning, and giving out leaflets  in my high street when I started out, but he wouldnt ave any of it .Even for £50.
When he P's me off I still threaten him with it.

there is a good few companies do this in Ireland. One i know is a pool table company its parked on the busiest street after nightclubs. Also there plenty more park near two of the biggest roundabout in Cork. There's plenty more places than tesco car park etc.. Also after paying all the money for the sign writing the more exposure the better..

another thing is to try and do some jobs over the weekend, if the job is in a built up area, most people work during the week, so will see you a the weekend. this also helps for a compact round.

I don't think it matters either, get one job 20 miles away you then have a starting point canvass around the one you are doing and try to get enough for a full day in that area. Also while you are there people will see you and your van and may well approach you, also your customer may well tell other people.
All the best

I was thinking of getting one of them trailer which have a advertising board on them, then park it at the entrance to housing estates.

Yes it is a great idea

We do it all the time and even if you don't get much business it doesn't half wind up the so-called competition as they think we have that buildings contract.

We also have one of our vans with our signwriting on the roof, you will be surprised how many people in office buildings read it
